Job location(s): Schiphol (around 20% travel)

This position is responsible for coordination of procurement activities for several locations within EMEA with special focus on Cargill’s Cocoa & Chocolate Group (CCC) - 18 CCC Sites across EMEA and NL, BE and UK countries with some complex procurement requirements, including managing procurement processes, providing location procurement support and planning, managing supplier events and relationships, and implementing sourcing strategies.

Major Tasks

Inform & implement sourcing strategies (25%):

  • Support Cargill’s EMEA Procurement Team in creating value for Cargill Businesses in EMEA with special focus on Cargill’s Cocoa & Chocolate Group (18 CC&C Sites across EMEA) and NL BE UK countries. Further professionalize the Procurement-function on Packaging materials and related equipment and on a more limited extent Ingredients;
  • Participate in Cargill’s (EMEA) Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Projects (CSSP) to leverage volume, best practices & reduce overall cost, representing businesses with their specific interests & requirements and cooperating with Cargill’s EMEA Packaging & Ingredients Category Manager and Sub-Category Managers;
  • Accountable for matching internal customer needs and expectations; ensure best solution for Cargill’s plants; Measure and evaluate customer satisfaction in order to improve work performance and service;
  • Responsible for analysing the relevant markets to identify new trends and opportunities in line with EMEA Procurement Plan (e.g. product evolution, alternative suppliers and products, order processing methods, etc.). Share information with relevant persons at plants and CSSP’s Packaging & Ingredients Category Management Team;
  • Responsible for correct execution of the EMEA Procurement strategy in compliance with Group’s procedures and CSSP Procurement policies and plans; Objectives originate from the Group Plans and are aligned with objectives at a EMEA level for maximum leverage by working with preferred suppliers, products and services.


Manage supplier events & relationships (25%):

  • Manage and coordinate implementations of new (CSSP) contracts and possible transitions to new suppliers;
  • Negotiate and contract with suppliers within established boundaries & limits;
  • Pro-active supplier management with Supplier Review Meetings;
  • Responsible for measuring and evaluating supplier’s performance, develop and leverage supplier partnerships and reduce supplier base.


Manage/execute tactical procurement processes (35%):

  • Lead and manage Procurement projects across Cargill’s Businesses in NL BE UK and for CC&C location(s) in order to guarantee the best total cost (TCO) for Packaging materials (and related equipment);
  • Performing Procurement analyses, gathering data, filling procurement scorecards, Purchase-to-Pay processes, SLA & KPI Reviews with suppliers, and possibly setting up supporting systems & tools;
  • Responsible for actively searching for internal and external (cost/price) benchmarks to compare the prices of the most important product groups and to improve the purchase conditions;
  • Perform Tactical Procurement as defined in CSSP’s Service Catalogue:
  • Spot buys – tactical bid events when source of supply is not identified;
  • Negotiate Medium Term agreements for low to medium spend; 
  • Supplier qualification and new item set up (organize site trials, Implementation plan and Communication);
  • Tail spend management, moving spend to select suppliers;
  • Key contact for sites and stakeholders for escalation during disruption or supply shortages; 
  • Provide supplier relationship management to strategic and non-strategic suppliers, including review of performance measurement with suppliers & action plan to improve – SRM Level 3.
  • Delegates administrative duties to support staff as appropriate (e.g. processing procurement requests and preparing purchase orders, scheduling/expediting/confirming delivery, etc.).


Provide business support & procurement planning (15%):

  • Work on specification optimization projects with p.a. Packaging Engineer and suppliers and SKU reduction;
  • Support on development of new Packaging materials;
  • May act as subject matter expert on multi-functional, local project teams. 


Challenges

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master degree;
  • Purchasing degree or equivalent (Nevi I/II or equivalent);
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Procurement roles; 
  • Experience with Packaging materials, equipment, processes and supply-base;
  • Technical affinity and/or knowledge on food processing industry;
  • Good verbal & written communication skills in English and preferably Dutch, German or French;
  • Good negotiation skills (internal customers, suppliers);
  • Analytical and strategic thinking;
  • Integrity, solid and trustworthy;
  • Prepared to travel 20% of your time, mainly Europe.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management skills;
  • Knowledge of Process Improvement Tools and Processes;
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities;
  • Flexibility, autonomous working and assertiveness is a must;
  • International experience.
