Packaging Development Manager (m/f)

Manufacturing Realisation forms part of the MSRD (Manufacturing, Science, Research and Development) function within Fontem Ventures, offering start to end support of product launches and product lifecycle management (PLM).  You would have the opportunity to work in a vibrant and fast moving team, working at the cutting edge of technology in the E-Vapour sector. The department offers the opportunity to be responsible for the set up, and management of on-going, manufacturing operations in a variety of locations around the world.  There will be significant opportunities for global travel working with the manufacturing partners, central functions, and development teams.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Interface between marketing, manufacturing, Supply Chain and material supplier;
  • Development and qualification of new packaging materials, formats and suppliers;
  • Creation of grid nets and material specifications within the framework of Manufacturing Realisation Specification system;
  • Support optimization of the machine/material interface;
  • Implement and apply cost management activities;
  • Support multiple packaging development projects incl. documentation;
  • Planning creation of artworks with marketing and creative teams;
  • Maintain an on-going awareness of emerging technologies and supplier skills to ensure delivery of appropriate cost-effective solutions;
  • With alignment from Marketing and Quality departments; approve print standards and specifications for our suppliers (print method, colours, ink maker, tool suppliers), approve specification of the print source and method of printing, and estimate one-off cost (Repro, tooling, etc.);
  • Consultation in regard to print items for internal customers: Group Marketing, Regional Marketing teams and Design agencies;
  • Monitoring of competitors activities in respect to new packaging.

 

Expertise and experience

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s degree preferably in packaging development/engineering;
  • Minimum 3 year of professional experience in R&D Packaging Development environment;
  • Project Management skills and experience;
  • Solid understanding of packaging processing and packaging materials;
  • Fully fluent (spoken and written) in English;
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office.
