Jacobs Douwe Egberts Research and Development Center Coffee and Tea (R&DC) is part of the Global JDE organization. R&D is the major contributor for developing Innovative coffee and tea products and is constantly optimizing the product portfolio. Focus of R&D is both on building Technology Platforms (TP) and on New Product Development (NPD). Moreover, some disciplines within R&D have a strong involvement in JDE business and are leading in decisions to be made. Projects are mostly carried out together with Marketing, Operation and Purchase Departments.
The Packaging Expert is part of the International Research and Development Centre Coffee and Tea (R&D C&T) .For all R&D activities, involvement of one or more scientists, specialists and / or experts is prerequisite. The Packaging Expert is responsible to advise within field of expertise on business decisions (current products, NPD), based on available legal, scientific, product and/or process data. The role has an operational/strategic scope, influences developments on European level and monitors global developments in field of expertise. They have a strong advising role for all TP and NPD projects running within R&D and often have this role for JDE related business as well. From their field of expertise they have an important role in indicating the possibilities within a project. At the same time, their role is to define the limitations in a projects and consequences of certain decisions. Experts are part of external networks in order to obtain information and to influence opinion formation, definition of new research areas, formation of legislation, and etc. all in line with the company’s strategy.
The Packaging Expert collaborates with and works for colleagues within R&D, Global Brands/professional, Operations, MSU's, Int'l Communication, C&T board.

• Typical project portfolio : 2-3 projects, 2-5 FTE, up to 250 kEuro/yr R&D OoP

• Impact on current & future JDE portfolio/NPD portfolio value : Future (5yr horizon) Portfolio impact up to 50 Mio

Experts lead the technology projects up to process build & implementation and they are the key knowledge holders in their field within JDE. The Experts is consulted by other R&D members for NPD projects and by other JDE employees in case of operational issues. For each technology field that is crucial for JDE C&T division, one or more specialists are responsible for the development and exploitation of JDE's proprietary knowledge, and building the network of internal or external experts and suppliers.

The Expert combines strong project management skills (up to large, multi-disciplinary projects) with a broad and deep understanding of his/her field of expertise. The Experts integrates technological knowledge and business relevance, balancing new technological opportunities with operational consequences to ensure creation of viable new opportunities for JDE C&T.

Define, manage and execute Technology projects with the aim to deliver new knowledge, skills and production capabilities that are essential for next generations NPD. Contributes to current NPD projects, as a team member, consultant or project leader.

• Is becoming aware of business partners with focus on network-building
• Requires coaching of direct manager on complex activities, especially business-related topics or new technical knowledge
• Leads research& technology projects.

To be successful in this role, you will need a higher professional education level; Bachelor or Master Industrial in Design /Packaging and will have 5+ years of experience in this area.
