Our client Zwart is an innovative and internationally-orientated company with offices central in the Netherlands and in St. Petersburg RF , where a total of 120 employees design and manufacture high-quality, flexible consumer packaging for the international food and beverage industry. For this use is made of high-quality, state-of-the-art machinery consisting of rotogravure printing, offset printing, laminating, cutting and punching machines and an own laboratory and ink department, all specifically equipped for the production of short runs. Major expansions are being realised in 2012 and 2013 including the commissioning of a new production facility and significant investments in printing technology with the emphasis on high-end food safety and footprint aspects of consumer packaging.

The company is master in flexible plastic and paper based packaging where VSOP offset and gravure printing are deployed for optimum quality. Zwarts focus is on market segments like Coffee & Tea, Meat & Cheese and Biscuits& Confectionary.  

Zwart recently joined the Schur Flexibles Group, an European top player in flexible packaging.

Technical Support Engineer (m/f)

 

Responsibilities

          Quality & Development

  • Creating, expanding and updating a material group database to satisfy PIM (Plastics Implementation Measure) guidelines and to establish a record of the migration values of the packaging produced by the company.
  • Providing advice on alternative materials and/or laminates with regard to food safety, innovation and degradability.
  • Conducting and safeguarding internal tests and food safety standards using internal testing resources and lab equipment.
  • Drafting customer-specific quality reports.
  • Responsible for safeguarding the entire BRC IoP process.
  • Supervising customer audits.
  • Contributing to the continuous optimisation and improvement of the existing production processes and resources. 
  • Analysing processes and production problems.
  • Researching the causes and proposing improvement projects based on the results.
  • Paying specific attention to the modification and improvement of production processes to optimise product quality.

 Environment & Health

  • Responsible for occupational health matters (i.e. HIRA, ATEX) and for executing improvement processes in consultation with the production management.
  • Environmental permit management, etc., such as keeping track of solvents, maintaining a hazardous substances register, and designing and executing procedures and measurements.

  

Knowledge and experience

  • Successfully completed bachelor study, preferably in one of the following subjects: packaging and/or process technology, chemical engineering, food technology, technical and graphic management;
  • Experience in a similar position in a production environment at a company in the food and beverage sector or in the packaging or supply sector (flexible packaging);
  • Project management experience;
  • Very good knowledge of flexible packaging materials and regulatory requirements;
  • Experience with quality systems, auditing and quality reports
  • Excellent written and spoken English, German is an asset.
